The oddball tag team of MJF and Adam Cole are looking for tag team gold after a huge win on AEW Dynamite.

For the past two months, AEW World Champion Maxwell Jacob Friedman (MJF) and Adam Cole have been together on screen a lot. They were initially rivals when Cole faced MJF in a 30-minute non-title match that ended in a draw. However, things have changed over the last month.

In the first round of the Blind Eliminator Tag Team Tournament, MJF & Adam Cole beat Matt Menard & The Butcher. In the semifinals, MJF & Cole beat Big Bill & Brian Cage. Those wins led to the finals on AEW Dynamite last night.

Prior to the final match in the Blind Eliminator Tag Team Tournament, MJF and Adam Cole were featured in another outside the ring vignette at a popular Chinese restaurant in Boston called Kowloon’s. Cole wanted MJF to get over his fear of spicy food. They ended up getting drunk and MJF was telling Hulk Hogan-like stories about slamming Big Bill one week earlier. They ended up wanting to do a double clothesline (a move MJF has wanted to do for the last month) on a waiter, but it wasn’t actually shown.

Before the match began with MJF & Adam Cole facing Sammy Guevara & Daniel Garcia, an impromptu dance off broke out. The team of Garcia & Guevara had a choreographed routine that was decent while MJF fared pretty well. Cole was the most awkward dancer of the four and it did not look good at all.

When the match finally began, it was even most of the way. Toward the finish, MJF did a rare suicide dive onto his opponents on the floor. That was followed up by Cole hitting a Panama Sunrise on Garcia. MJF tagged in leading to the double clothesline and MJF pinned Garcia for the pinfall win in a match that went about 11 minutes. The fans loved it.

As a reward for winning the Blind Tag Team Tournament, MJF & Adam Cole will get an AEW World Tag Team Title match against FTR on the Saturday, July 29th edition of Collision.

After the match, FTR’s Dax Harwood & Cash Wheeler had an in-ring staredown with MJF & Cole. There was no physicality between them, but there was a lengthy staredown.

While many fans likely assume that MJF is going to turn on Cole at some point because we know MJF isn’t normally a smiling babyface that slaps the hands of the fans (like he did on Dynamite), the team of MJF & Cole remain a cohesive duo for now. Tune into AEW Collision on Saturday, July 29th to see how they do when the AEW Tag Team Titles are on the line.
