MJF Reveals Acting Goals Involving WWE Legends
MJF is an AEW guy, but he has some WWE legends on his mind when it comes to his acting career.
It’s been a big year for former AEW World Champion Maxwell Jacob Friedman in the ring and out of the ring as well.
In the popular Netflix film “Happy Gilmore 2” starring Adam Sandler, MJF plays one of Happy’s sons in the film, so he’s in the movie a lot.
While “Happy Gilmore 2” is on Netflix instead of in theatres, it is doing very well since “the film amassed 2.89 billion minutes of viewing time in the United States from July 25-27, the highest single-week total for a movie in the five-year history of the ratings provider’s streaming charts.” (Hollywood Reporter) That’s just three days of stats, so Netflix is likely pleased with how the film did.
Joining MJF in “Happy Gilmore 2” were WWE stars like Becky Lynch and Nikki Bella, but in Nikki’s case, her scenes were cut.
MJF Wants To Join Some WWE Legends In Future Movie Projects
In addition to his “Happy Gilmore 2” role, MJF also filmed for The Iron Claw about the Von Erich wrestling family, but his role was cut from the film. While at the film’s premiere, he met and talked to WWE icon John Cena.
When MJF spoke to Vice recently, he talked about his interest in doing a movie with WWE legends like Cena, The Rock, or Dave Bautista (aka Batista), all of whom are future Hall of Famers.
“I said [this] before, I wanna end up on a Mount Rushmore of professional wrestlers turned actors. If I have the opportunity to get to work with any of the three Gods that are Bautista, Cena or The Rock, I’d be a very happy boy.
Outside of that, my dream acting thing would definitely be getting to be involved in a superhero franchise. I grew up going to the movie theater and those were the movies that would get me to leave my house.”
Regarding his AEW career, MJF will challenge “Hangman” Adam Page for the AEW World Title at Forbidden Door on August 24th. In this match, MJF can win the AEW World Title by countout or disqualification, in addition to the traditional pinfall or submission method.
