One missing WWE star has made a surprise return to the company.

After The Family imploded in WWE, Tony D’Angelo was left standing alone in NXT. Back in July, however, D’Angelo seemed to have met his fate in the same way Tony Soprano famously did in Holsten’s.

A video aired on NXT of D’Angelo getting ready to eat as he tells the waiter he no longer needs to be known as “The Don” and that Tony D is just fine. However, a presence is soon felt as a shadow is cast over D’Angelo’s face as he looks up before the scene cuts to black. The ending mimicked the infamous ending to The Sopranos when fans had to infer what happened next.

Tony D’Angelo has not been seen since then, and it seems even behind the scenes, he was keeping a low profile.

Fightful Select has now reported that since he disappeared from TV, NXT talent and staff have maintained that they have not seen D’Angelo at the WWE Performance Center. However, that changed at the NXT show on November 11th, where he turned up.

D’Angelo was said not to be dressed to train or film anything. There was very little further detail on his status with the company, although he remains under contract to WWE.
