Missing WWE Star Gives Thanks To AJ Styles
WWE Superstar Omos has praised AJ Styles for having a positive impact on his career.
The giant Nigerian star originally arrived in the United States on a basketball scholarship, featuring for the likes of King University and Morgan State University before inking a developmental deal with WWE in 2019.
Having trained at the WWE Performance Center, Omos made his main roster debut on the 15th June 2020 edition of Raw as part of Akira Tozawa’s ninja faction. Soon after he was repackaged as a bouncer in the short-lived Raw Underground before finally finding success after aligning with AJ Styles in October 2020.
After months as a bodyguard for Styles, Omos made his in-ring main roster debut at WrestleMania 37 as the duo captured the WWE Raw Tag Team Championship from The New Day. The pair lost the titles to RK-Bro at SummerSlam 2021 before Omos attacked Styles following a loss to Rey and Dominik Mysterio on the 20th December 2021 edition of Raw.
Despite their on-screen split, Omos has nothing but praise for the career guidance received by AJ Styles. Speaking during a recent appearance on the ‘Six Feet Under with Mark Calaway‘ podcast, ‘The Nigerian Giant’ detailed how the former WWE Champion took him under his wing after his debut with the company:
“Oh, man. AJ Styles has been a huge blessing in my life. I remember when I first got called up to the main roster, he just took me under his wing and said, ‘Hey, you’re with me. I’m with you. We’re gonna figure this thing out together.’
He always made sure he protected me and made sure I wasn’t doing what I wasn’t supposed to be doing. He made sure I was learning what I was supposed to be learning and using what I was supposed to be using in the ring. So he really made sure I was protected and taken care of in my early years of development on the main roster.
As far as our relationship goes, man, just like [Undertaker], I can call him up any time of the week, he’ll pick up his phone, give me advice, and he’s always telling me, he told me today, ‘Be patient. Everything’s gonna come in time. So, yeah, I have nothing but love for AJ Styles.”
