Missing AEW Star Back In Action For First Time In 2 Years
For some AEW stars, the company can be a black hole they disappear into, but now one of those stars has escaped the abyss.
Chris Jericho has not been seen in AEW since April, when he lost his ROH World Championship to Bandido. Since then, rumours have swirled about his future with Jericho widely expected to make the jump back to WWE when his AEW deal expires at the end of 2025.
Jericho poured fuel on the fire of that speculation when he hit out at recent AEW shows, claiming that TNA looked like the number two promotion in the world.
Britt Baker is another AEW star for whom there remain more questions than answers. Baker has now been missing from AEW for over a year, disappearing after another lengthy hiatus. Tony Khan has claimed he hopes to have Baker back in action, but there has been no explanation as to why she’s been pulled from TV for all this time.
Ortiz Back In AEW Action
Another star who has been in the wilderness is former Inner Circle member Ortiz. Ortiz suffered a very public falling out with long-time tag team partner Santana, with the latter now plying his trade in TNA. The last time Ortiz had been seen in an AEW ring was back on the 20th of January 2024 edition of Collision, when he teamed with Eddie Kingston in a loss to Bryan Danielson and Claudio Castagnoli.
Now, almost two years later, Ortiz has returned to action in a dark match before Dynamite Winter Is Coming. The former TNA Tag Team Champion lost to The Opps’ HOOK in a one-on-one bout. It remains to be seen if this marks a regular return to the company for Ortiz or if he’ll find himself on ice once again.
