Minoru Suzuki To Wrestle On Bullet Train

Minoru Suzuki DDT

Minoru Suzuki is set to make history.

For the first time ever, a wrestling match will take place inside the world famous bullet train. The match is being promoted by the Japanese promotion DDT, and will see Suzuki take on Sanshiro Takagi at a date to be determined.

DDT made the announcement on social media on July 31st, which will see The Murder Grandpa and DDT’s answer to “Stone Cold” Steve Austin taking part in the unique match.

The Shinkansen match continues the DDT tradition of hosting some of the most unique stipulations in the history of professional wrestling. Previous match types have included the use of inflatable dolls and a “Silence match” where any loud strikes or noises were strictly banned.

Minoru Suzuki Has Previously Wrestled For DDT

Dramatic Dream Team Pro-Wrestling was founded in 1997 by Takagi to parody wrestling seen in the USA. The biggest event of DDT pro-wrestling is the Peter Pan pay-per-view, which takes place in the summer each year.

It was in DDT where the alliance between Kenny Omega and Kota Ibushi first originated, and the partnership of The Golden Lovers first came to be. The long awaited reunion would take place in July 2023, when Ibushi would side with The Elite to defeat The Blackpool Combat Club in the third ever Blood & Guts match. Other notable names that have previously wrestled for the promotion include El Genrico and Suzuki himself.

Suzuki has been predominantly wrestling in America in recent months, making multiple appearances for All Elite Wrestling. Following a surprise appearance in the Royal Rampage Battle Royal on July 21st, the NJPW star was then revealed to be the opponent for Darby Allin’s open challenge on the July 29th episode of AEW Collision.

This is not the first time that wrestling has taken place on transport. Chris Jericho’s Rock ‘N’ Wrestling Cruise sees in-ring action throughout the voyage. Also in 1995, WCW presented the King of the Road Match between Dustin Rhodes and Blacktop Bully at the Uncensored pay-per-view.
