Mike Tyson Says He’d Rather Appear In WWE Than AEW
Mike Tyson has explained that he’d much rather appear on WWE television than AEW despite being paid more money for his time by Tony Khan.
Mike Tyson has appeared four times on AEW television with the last of those appearances coming in April 2021 when he was the special enforcer for a match between Chris Jericho and Dax Harwood on Dynamite. His most notable appearance came when he was ringside for the finals of a tournament to crown the inaugural TNT Champion.
Tyson was seen yawning at ringside before presenting Cody Rhodes with the title belt after he defeated Lance Archer.
Speaking on Hotboxin’ with Mike Tyson, the former boxing great was joined by The Undertaker and says that he’d rather appear on WWE television than AEW despite Tony Khan’s company apparently paying more to have him appear:
“You know Tony Khan and those guys? Yeah, these guys want to put me on the show and stuff before. But I don’t care if they got more money. If Vince [McMahon] put me on the show, I’d rather go there [WWE] even though they [AEW] pay more money.”
The Undertaker agreed with Tyson’s assessment, saying that WWE would do any appearance by Tyson right:
“I don’t blame you there. It’s going to get much more play. WWE is going to do it right. Yeah.”
Mike Tyson was a huge part of the build-up to WrestleMania 14 where he was the man to count the pin as Stone Cold Steve Austin defeated Shawn Michaels to win his first WWE Title. Tyson was inducted into the celebrity wing of the WWE Hall of Fame in 2012.
