Mick Foley Had Unique Idea For Former WWE Stable

Mick Foley

A former WWE superstar revealed an idea that Mick Foley had for a stable that involved the Royal Rumble.

During the 1998 Royal Rumble, Mick Foley had a busy night because he was in the Rumble match three times. That’s because Foley portrayed his “three faces of Foley” characters three different times in the match.

The 1998 Royal Rumble started with Foley as Cactus Jack in the #1 spot, then he was back in there at #16 as Mankind, and Foley entered for a third time at #28 as Dude Love.

According to former WWE Champion Jinder Mahal, Foley wanted the 3MB group to recreate that Three Faces of Foley in the Royal Rumble spot. 3MB consisted of former WWE Champions Mahal & Drew McIntyre along with a former WWE Tag Team Champion, Heath Slater.

Mahal, who now goes by his real name of Raj Dhesi, appeared on Busted Open to reveal what Foley wanted to do with the 3MB group.

“Mick (Foley) was a big fan (of 3MB) and I actually remember him telling me around Royal Rumble time that he was pitching for 3MB to go in as the Three Faces of Foley.”

“This was around the time when we were dressing up. We were The Fabulous Three-Birds one night in Atlanta. We were some gimmick in England…The Union Jacks and Mick had actually told me that he pitched for 3MB to go in as Three Faces of Foley. That would’ve been cool.”

Foley’s idea never actually materialized. The 3MB group was never pushed seriously in WWE. In the case of Mahal & McIntyre, both guys were released, but they came back to the company and became WWE Champions.

Mick Foley Was Disappointed With WrestleMania 20 Match

One of Mick Foley’s biggest matches of his career was at WrestleMania 20 in Madison Square Garden when he teamed up with The Rock against Evolutions Ric Flair, Randy Orton & Batista. Foley was pinned in the match after an RKO by Orton, which led to the two of them having a better match at Backlash 2004. While speaking on his podcast, which he ended earlier this year, Foley explained why that WrestleMania 20 match was disappointing to him.

“There was a ton of pressure on me, and then when I walked out to the Garden, I felt overwhelmed. I’m walking there with The Rock, who at that point was one of the biggest stars in the world. Now he’s the biggest star, but 20 years ago he was certainly one of the biggest stars. Then you have the Nature Boy who’s always feeling it. He’s on and I just felt suddenly overwhelmed.”

“It’s Madison Square Garden. I haven’t wrestled in five months. I had worked for six months to drop 70 pounds, but I was blown up in ungodly fast fashion when I faced off against Randy. I remember thinking, like, as we’re slugging away, I’m like, how could I possibly be, you know, gassed out as hard as I work, you know, night in and night out going to the Gold’s Gym at 1 AM in the freezing cold.”

“I’ve thought, Okay, I’m ready, you know, and from the standpoint of being on the bike or the elliptical, I felt like I was ready and then you get in there and it’s a whole different ball game.”

The good news for Foley is he had another WrestleMania match two years later at WrestleMania 22 in 2006 when he faced Edge in what is considered one of the greatest matches in the careers of both Hall of Famers.
