Mick Foley Reveals Truth About WWE Pay

Mick Foley

Mick Foley is surprised by his longevity and ability to make money in retirement.

Although he continued to wrestle on and off until 2012, Mick Foley hasn’t been a full-time wrestler since competing at WrestleMania 2000. But despite this, he remains incredibly popular with fans and as in demand as ever.

During a new interview with CasinoBeats, Mick Foley was asked whether he felt he was undervalued by WWE. The Hall of Famer said that things might have been different if he came along at a different time, but he also conceded things could have also been worse.

Foley added that he’s lucky to enjoy the longevity he has since retiring, noting he earned more at a recent For The Love of Wrestling event in Manchester, England than he did in the main event at Madison Square Garden.

Well, I’m never going to begrudge anybody who gets what they deserve but yeah, maybe if I’d come along at a different time, but if I come along at a different time, maybe I wouldn’t have been utilized as well.

I was kind of an outside the box type of wrestler and I was lucky that when I got to WWE, the powers that be saw something in me and used me really well. But I’m lucky that I can come to Manchester and have people waiting in line to see me. I mean, I haven’t wrestled full time in 25 years. I seriously thought I had a 18 month shelf life before everyone forgot about me.

If you would have told me that I’d be making more money for a signing in Manchester than I did by ‘main eventing’ at Madison Square Garden, I would have thought you were crazy.

It was recently reported that the WWE’s minimum main roster salary is $350,000 per year, up a whopping 40% from three years ago.

Mick Foley Wanted Hulk Hogan Match

In the same interview, Mick Foley admitted he wishes he could have wrestled Hulk Hogan.

Despite vast periods of their careers overlapping, Foley and Hogan never shared the ring, although they did come relatively close in TNA, going back and forth in a couple of promos. While reflecting on the career near-miss, Foley said he wishes he could have stayed in TNA longer to make a match with Hogan happen.

There had been very real issues between the pair in the past, but Foley believes they could have delivered a good match.
