Mick Foley Names His Top Pick For Pro Wrestling Mount Rushmore

Mick Foley

Mick Foley’s #1 pick for his Mr. Rushmore of wrestling was an easy choice.

Almost every wrestler and every wrestling fan has their own Mount Rushmore of wrestling. They all know of four wrestlers so influential, so successful, so iconic, that they deserve to have their faces carved into a mountainside for the entire world to see.

Mick Foley is one such wrestler. During an episode of his Foley Is Pod podcast, Mick Foley quickly named Terry Funk as his top pick for this illustrious distinction.

“He’s number one. The reason being is that he made it so easy to suspend disbelief, and this is not a knock on the other guys who are either on my top 10 or on my Mount Rushmore, but he was, to me, he was the guy who could go in and make people look good, made other people, he brought a sense of believability to the matches and the promos, and he could have a good match in different styles with just about anybody.”

Mick Foley went on to say that Terry Funk had an incredible ability to be just as convincing and successful as either a babyface or a heel, which is a very difficult thing to do in wrestling.

Terry Funk has won numerous accolades and distinctions over the decades. He is in ten different Halls of Fame, some by wrestling companies, some by wrestling publications, and some by wrestling associations. He has won singles and tag team gold and tournaments all across the United States and in Japan. And some of his matches are still considered among the best to ever take place.
