Mick Foley Explains Why Johnny Gargano “Owes It To Himself” To Explore Options Outside WWE
Given how stars of his size have fared on the main roster in recent times, WWE Hall Of Famer Mick Foley believes Johnny Gargano would be wise to explore his options outside of WWE.
Johnny Gargano and Kyle O’Reilly made what many believe to be their final appearance in a WWE ring on the December 7th episode of NXT 2.0. Before being beaten down by Grayson Waller, Gargano cut a promo saying thank you and goodbye to the brand. Meanwhile, Von Wagner defeated O’Reilly in a Steel Cage Match.
Both men’s contracts expired in the days following the show. Both Johnny Gargano and Kyle O’Reilly have been linked with AEW since leaving the company, with O’Reilly, in particular, tipped to link-up Adam Cole and Bobby Fish – his former partners in The Undisputed Era.
Mick Foley was asked about Gargano and O’Reilly’s departures on Wrestling Inc Daily. The Hardcore Legend reiterated his previous comments about his concerns with WWE’s creative team, before suggesting that the pair consider their options:
“If you’re Johnny and you see the history of guys his size, there are some exceptions. People have done remarkably well, Daniel Bryan, Bryan Danielson being the best example. But I think they owe it to themselves to see what’s out there.”
Foley finished by adding that although he’s a “WWE guy” his loyalty will always be with the men and women working inside the ring.
