Mick Foley Recalls Excitement Over Possibly Having One More Match

Mick Foley WWE

Mick Foley likely isn’t going to have one more match in pro wrestling, but at one point there was a lot of excitement about it.

The WWE Hall of Famer Mick Foley will turn 60 years old in 2025, so he spoke about the possibility of having one more pro wrestling match. This is something that Foley talked about several times while also making it clear that he wanted that final match to be a Death Match, which meant he wanted to include a lot of weapons in the match.

In an update posted on YouTube in April 2024, Mick Foley announced that he wasn’t going to have that final match after all. That’s because Foley suffered a concussion as part of his everyday life, which is obviously very concerning due to his past history of concussions as a wrestler. Foley did the smart thing by calling off the match.

Matt Cardona, who considers himself to be an indy wrestling God over the last four years, wanted to be Foley’s final opponent. However, Mick Foley revealed he came up with a plan with former AEW World Champion Maxwell Jacob Friedman (MJF) and that’s who Foley would have wrestled, but obviously, it’s not happening now.

While talking to Wrestling Life Online, Foley addressed the excitement over the idea that he had for one final match.

“It was fun to see, once I put the word out, I was not at a loss for potential opponents.”

“He (MJF) laid out a scenario that was really fascinating; so much so that he was the first guy I called and I was like, ‘I think it’s over. I got a concussion doing almost nothing.'”

Mick Foley’s Final Match Was In A WWE Royal Rumble

Even though Foley won’t have one more match as a pro wrestler, he can say that his in-ring farewell was in one of the most unique matches in pro wrestling history: the Royal Rumble.

That’s because the last time WWE Hall of Famer Mick Foley competed in a wrestling match was the 2012 Royal Rumble. The wrestler who threw him out of that match? Current Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes, who will likely join Foley in the WWE Hall Of Fame one day.
