Mick Foley Celebrates Special 25-Year WWE Anniversary
Mick Foley is having a nice day while recalling one of the special moments from his legendary WWE career.
The WWE Hall of Famer Mick Foley is known as a Hardcore Legend who was always willing to put his body on the line to entertain pro wrestling fans. Whether he was performing as Cactus Jack, Mankind, Dude Love or even using his real name, Foley is always going to be one of the most beloved wrestlers ever.
During the WWE Attitude Era of the late 1990s and into the early 2000s, Foley was one of the biggest stars in the company at a time when WWE was as big as ever. In February 2000, Foley retired as a full-time wrestler while in his mid-30s.
Before his official retirement as a full-time wrestler, Foley wrote one of the greatest books ever by a pro wrestler. It was so successful that, in October 1999, it became a New York Times bestseller, which then led to many other people in wrestling writing books about their lives.
25 YEARS AGO: MICK HITS #1
It was 25 years ago this week that my first book “Have a Nice Day” hit #1 on The NY Times bestseller list – one of the biggest accomplishments of my life. Actually, it was just completing the book – written by hand in just 50 days – and putting everything I had into it that was the bigger accomplishment.
Writing that book made me feel like I was capable of much more than I had previously considered – and open the door to my post-wrestling life. Over the last 25 years, I have failed much more often than I have succeeded – but I have always strived to put my best effort out there. Remember that in life, no one hits towering home runs without striking out quite a bit also. I am a big believer in taking my swings, and don’t mind missing once in a while.
Thank you to everyone who read my book and made it such a success. If you read “Have a Nice Day” and it affected you in some way, please let me hear about it in the comments.
Also, I have a busy schedule this next month, with stops at #NYComicCon#PalosHeightsIL#HoopestonIL#RIComicCon#SeminoleFL#AuburnWA#MeadowlandsNJ#WinstonSalemNC. Come say hello, and have a nice day!
After the success of his “Have a Nice Day” book, Foley would go on to write more books about his life and career in pro wrestling, as well as a novel, a Christmas book, and other things as well.
Mick Foley Almost Had One Final Match With MJF
The great Mick Foley will turn 60 years old and he commented many times that he wanted to have one more final Hardcore Match. Recently, Foley revealed that he wanted to have that match with AEW’s Maxwell Jacob Friedman, who is a former AEW WOrld Champion and a fellow New Yorker like Foley. However, Foley has decided against that match due to suffering a concussion, which made hims realize it wouldn’t be a good idea.
Assuming he never wrestles again, the last time Mick Foley competed in a wrestling match was the 2012 Royal Rumble. Who eliminated him in that match? The current Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes.
