WWE Champion Denies Rumoured Issues With Mercedes Moné
A championship wrestler in WWE claims perceived issues with AEW’s Mercedes Mone are false.
Mercedes Mone has had an incredible career in pro wrestling, first as WWE’s Sasha Banks, and over the last year, she’s been very successful in AEW.
As the TBS Champion for over a full calendar year, Mone remains undefeated in singles matches, having also recently won the Women’s Owen Hart Cup by defeating Jamie Hayter at Double or Nothing.
By winning the Women’s Owen Hart Foundation Tournament, Mercedes Mone will challenge Toni Storm for the AEW Women’s World Title at All In Texas on July 12th.
During their face-to-face segment on AEW Dynamite, Mercedes Mone told Storm that she’s beaten the very best all over the world, and then she’s going to bring it home at All In Texas, where they will have the greatest women’s match of all time.
Storm responded to Mone by saying that Mone is the greatest of all time, but unfortunately for her, Toni happens to be Timeless.
Zelina Vega is the current WWE Women’s United States Champion who once spoke about Mone during her Sasha Banks run in a negative light. It led people to think that Vega didn’t like Mone, but Vega has clarified that’s not the case. Vega explained during an interview with DS Shin on Ring The Belle.
“So when it comes to me and Mercedes, we never had any beef. That’s what’s so funny. Back in the day, I had done an interview, which I remember talking to Naomi about this a long, long time ago.”
Why Did Zelina Vega Call Out Mercedes Mone In The Past?
As she continued, Vega explained that Mone was cool with it when Vega mentioned her.
“I was like, it’d be really cool to get, cause I had known her prior for a while. So it was like, to get into, like, a thing with her. Like, hopefully we can get into something and WWE. Like, my brain was, I need to get to WWE any way possible. She’s one of the top girls. I want to get in the ring with her she’s dope, I want to do this. She was cool with it.
People use that clip as, like, ‘oh, my God, they’ve had beef for forever, blah, blah, blah,’ and I’m like, I love that I convinced you all of that. I love that for me.
But no none of us have ever had any beef. It’s so funny to me that, I’m the common denominator between all of the beef, apparently. I’m just like, well, she trains with my cousin. Like, what? Like, they’re trying to find any little thing. Like, if I genuinely hated somebody, do you think I’d be cool with that?”
The cousin that Vega referred to is the wrestler Amazing Red, who has trained with Mone in the past.
