Mercedes Mone Teases Edge Joining AEW
Mercedes Mone dropped a major hint on social media that WWE Hall of Famer Edge could be AEW-bound.
Edge was celebrated with great fanfare in Toronto, ON on the August 18th episode of SmackDown, with video packages playing to celebrate the star’s 25th anniversary in WWE. His wife Beth Phoenix was also in attendance. The main event of the show saw him take on Sheamus in what he revealed to be the final match on his current contract. Many began to wonder whether he would sign a new deal with the sports entertainment giant or whether he could eventually go to AEW despite his long history in WWE.
A report from PWInsider revealed that Edge, real name Adam Copeland, has been removed from WWE’s internal roster. Despite still being listed on the company’s public roster, he is no longer considered an active performer. The report also notes that some circles believe he will eventually become All Elite.
Mercedes Mone, who is expected to debut in AEW once she’s cleared from injury and was shown in the crowd at AEW All In, further stoked the flames of speculation with a recent tweet, pairing the lyrics to Copeland’s long-used theme song with a gif of an excited man celebrating. Mone wrote:
“On this day I see clearly. Everything has come to life.”

When Does Edge’s WWE Contract Expire?
In an August interview, The Rated R Superstar revealed that his current WWE contract expires at the end of September. Speaking to the FAN Morning Show ahead of his SmackDown match with Sheamus, he had this to say:
“That’s why I really want to collect myself after this thing, take a big ol’ deep breath and decide what that is. My contract is up at the end of September. This is my last contracted match. I have a lot of decisions to make. I can’t do it now. I have to see how Friday goes. I know that’s not a clear answer, but I don’t have it yet.” (h/t Fightful)
