Mercedes Mone To Defend TBS Title at AEW Worlds End

Mercedes Mone has given one AEW rival a second chance.

It’s been a glittering year for Mercedes Mone as she looks to end the year as a double champion. As well as holding the TBS Title and NJPW Women’s Strong Title, the star has also been undefeated in AEW since making her in-ring debut at Double or Nothing.

During this run, Mone defeated the likes of Willow Nightingale, Britt Baker, Stephanie Vaquer, Anna Jay, and Kris Statlander. Her match against Statlander at Full Gear earned praise across the board with fans hoping to see them share the ring again before too long.

Mercedes Mone Grants Christmas Wish

In the weeks following Full Gear, Statlander has made no secret of the fact she wants another shot at Mone. This saw the star lay down a formal challenge on the December 21st edition of Collision at the Hammerstein Ballroom shortly before her match with Penelope Ford.

Statlander went on to pick up the win in a shade under nine minutes. After the match, Mone arrived to accept her rival’s challenge saying she was originally going to take Worlds End off, but seeing as it’s the holidays she wants to give Statlander another chance.

Following her match against Statlander, Mercedes Mone will face Mina Shirakawa at Wrestle Dynasty on January 5th. The cross-promotional show is set to take place inside the Tokyo Dome just 24 hours after Wrestle Kingdom 19. In the bout, both Mone’s NJPW Strong Women’s Title and Shirakawa’s Rev Pro Undisputed British Championship will be up for grabs.

Meanwhile, also at Worlds End, Mariah May will defend her AEW Women’s Title against Thunder Rosa in a Tijuana Street Fight. Mone and May have been taking shots at each other in the media in recent weeks, and an on-screen feud between the pair seems inevitable.
