Mercedes Mone Reveals Truth About AEW “Creative Control”
How much influence does Mercedes Mone have in AEW?
As her ‘belt collector’ run has continued, speculation around Mercedes Mone’s supposed level of creative control has only grown. As well as holding the TBS Championship and losing just once since signing with AEW, Mone holds a series of other titles from around the world.
Although several reports, and Tony Khan himself, have dismissed the rumours, that hasn’t stopped the comments online.
During a new interview with Scott Fishman of TV Insider, Mone was asked about her creative influence in AEW. In response, the star explained that the company has the best women’s division in the world, so she’s more than happy to work with whoever Khan chooses.
“I work with whoever Tony wants me to work with. That’s why I’m “The CEO.” That’s why I came here because I watched the women, and said, ‘This is the place for me to be because there is so much passion and drive.’
We legit have the greatest women’s division in all of professional wrestling. The best from Toni Storm, Athena, Kris Statlander, Willow, and I can go on and on and on. I really feel like the last year-and-a-half, there has been such a shift in the energy with what we bring to AEW television. We’re getting more time, more matches, and more in-depth storylines.
It has been such great growth. Being a part of it has been so amazing for myself and my career.”
Mercedes Mone Unimpressed By WWE Tactics
During the same interview, Mercedes Mone dismissed WWE’s latest attempts to counter-program AEW events. Mone said that she doesn’t watch WWE and “doesn’t care about them.”
She went on to say that AEW is taking over, and if fans want to see the best wrestlers and best wrestling in the world, their focus should be All Elite.
Mercedes Mone will be in action at AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door, where she’s set to defend the TBS Championship against Alex Windsor, Bozilla, and Persephone.
