AEW’s Mercedes Mone Makes Shocking Retirement-Related Announcement
Mercedes Mone has lifted the lid on her imminent retirement from wrestling.
Mone has had a busy 2025, as she currently holds 12 titles across various promotions, including the AEW TBS Championship.
At Ring of Honor Final Battle, she dropped the Women’s World Television Championship to Red Velvet, which was her only third singles match defeat since joining AEW in 2024.
Mone is a 15-year veteran, having started wrestling professionally in the independent circuit in 2010.
The former WWE Women’s Champion recently participated in an Instagram Live session, when a user asked her about he retirement plans.
Mercedes Mone shocked everyone by claiming her retirement may be near.
When am I going to retire from the ring? Sooner than later.
While the 33-year-old did not specify any details, her eventual retirement will mark the end of a legacy that massively uplifted women’s wrestling at the world stage.
It is also safe to assume that Mone would retire on her own terms and with some gold around her shoulders.
Mercedes Mone Reacts To John Cena’s Retirement
John Cena is all set to retire from wrestling on December 13 at Saturday Night’s Main Event.
While the wrestling world and fans are pouring him with tributes, Mercedes Mone’s unnatural reaction has left everyone surprised.
During the Instagram session, she was asked to share her thoughts about Cena’s retirement by a user.
In response, Mone delivered a cold, deadpan response, simply saying, “Goodbye.”
It is possible that she chose to stay in character by delivering a blunt answer to a question that would otherwise have received a carefully structured statement.
