Mercedes Mone Recalls Clashing With WWE Bosses

Mercedes Mone

Mercedes Mone has opened up about the difficulties of working with WWE.

Prior to taking on the world as Mercedes Mone, the AEW TBS Champion made her name in WWE as Sasha Banks. As her career progressed Mone became known not only as one of the biggest female stars in the company but one of the biggest stars on the whole roster.

Naturally, as her star shone ever brighter, interest arrived from outside of the wrestling bubble, and she landed a role in The Mandalorian. However, it seems the process was anything but straightforward.

When asked in a new interview with WFAN whether there were restrictions in WWE, Mone replied “Ohh yes. Oh yes.”

Mone went on to describe trying to get time off from WWE to film The Mandalorian as like “pulling teeth.”

“That’s definitely a big reason why I came to AEW. Even doing The Mandalorian was pulling teeth with the WWE, to even try and get time off to film that show. Tony (Khan) says, whatever I need. If I need the private jet to go from filming in LA to coming for a show, it’s available for me.”

Mercedes Mone Staying Quiet On WWE Exit

During the same interview, Mercedes Mone was asked about her controversial WWE exit.

While declining to get into the details of exactly what happened on that crazy night in May 2022, Mone spoke of the importance of backing her own instincts. The star added that she’s been able to achieve and experience so much because she followed her heart and left after taking a stand.

At AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door, Mercedes Mone will meet Stephanie Vaquer in a huge ‘Winner Take All’ match. Both Mone’s TBS Championship and Vaquer’s NJPW Strong Women’s Championship will be on the line.
