Mercedes Mone Praises Inspirational AEW Star

Mercedes Mone

Mercedes Mone is feeling inspired.

On the January 22nd edition of Dynamite, Mercedes Mone was in a celebratory mood backstage and wondered who might step up to face her at Grand Slam: Australia.

Step forward, Harley Cameron.

The popular star arrived with guitar in hand and sang that she wanted to ride on the Mone train. While the song impressed fans and Renee Paquette, Mone was a little less amused, saying that while she’s wrestled the very best, Cameron has never won a match on AEW TV, so it’s a hard no to a match in Australia.

Mercedes Mone Thrilled By Harley Cameron

In the latest edition of Mone Mag, the TBS Champion praised Cameron but made sure to point out that she’s got a long way to go before they’re on a similar level.

“Harley is ready to hop on the Moné Train, and watching her journey in AEW has been a thrill. Her growth in the ring has been nothing short of inspiring. I know she puts in the hard work, traveling to various wrestling schools across Florida and soaking up knowledge from anyone she can connect with backstage at AEW.

So, it’s no surprise that she has the guts to pursue the Moné Train—it’s hard not to when you’re holding four belts!”

Despite the praise, Mone also delivered a word of warning. While Cameron has undoubtedly done her homework and is working hard to succeed, Mone urged her not to forget that she’s the ultimate student of the game.

“But Harley should remember that I’m the ultimate student of the game. I’ve traveled the world, learning from the best and facing the toughest competitors out there. Sure, she’s been training like crazy, but the reality is she hasn’t yet secured a win on AEW TV.

So, as I hummed along to her catchy song, “Moné Train,” I couldn’t help but reflect. Yes, she hails from Brisbane, Australia, but the road ahead will be tough for her. Naurr, it’s not going to be easy!”

To date, only two matches have been announced for Grand Slam: Australia, with Toni Storm challenging Mariah May for the Women’s World Title, and Kenny Omega teaming with Will Ospreay to battle Kyle Fletcher and Konosuke Takeshita.

Mone hasn’t wrestled since beating Mina Shirakawa at Wrestle Dynasty on January 5th. With the win, she claimed the RevPro Undisputed British Women’s Championship to add to her TBS and NJPW Strong Women’s Titles.
