Mercedes Mone Details Moment Of Panic During AEW Match
Mercedes Mone has admitted to a moment of panic during a recent AEW bout.
‘The CEO’ has dominated since joining AEW in February 2024, capturing both the AEW TBS Championship and NJPW Strong Women’s Championship whilst defeating the likes of Britt Baker, Hikaru Shida and Kris Statlander in high profile bouts.
Despite defeating all comers in recent months, Mercedes Mone has admitted that she did suffer a moment of panic during an AEW TBS Championship defence against Momo Watanabe at Revolution on 9th March 2025.
Speaking about the issue in the latest edition of ‘Mone Mag‘, the 33 year-old star opened up about injury concerns following a kick delivered by the Japanese competitor late in the contest:
“It was a hard-hitting affair when I finally stepped into the ring with Momo. I felt every kick she threw at me.
As the CEO of women’s wrestling, it was a surreal moment to take one of my own signature moves from her on the apron! Talk about a jolt! I genuinely wondered if that’s how others feel when they take my knees!
But let me tell you, nothing prepared me for that kick that landed right on my jaw and throat. I instantly grabbed my face, praying nothing was broken.
Panic set in for a moment—I could barely speak or swallow—but I knew we were nearing the finish line.”
Mercedes Mone Glad She Joined AEW
