Mercedes Mone Match Impressed AEW Legend
Mercedes Mone had an incredible match at AEW Full Gear, which impressed a legend in the company.
Ever since Mercedes Mone joined AEW officially in March 2024, there have been fans and critics who have made it clear that it’s been a bumpy road for her. While Mone quickly captured the TBS Title while also holding the NJPW Strong Women’s Title, her storylines have been criticized.
The AEW All In PPV featured Mercedes Mone against Britt Baker in a dream match, yet the match was considered a disappointment that didn’t live up to the hype.
At AEW Full Gear, Mone successfully defended the TBS Title against Kris Statlander in an outstanding match that was praised heavily due to how competitive it was. Dave Meltzer rated the Mone-Statlander match at 4.5 stars, which made it the second-best match on the show after the Kyle Fletcher-Will Ospreay match.
Mercedes Mone Had Her Best AEW Match At Full Gear
Jim Ross is a WWE Hall of Famer who has been with AEW as an announcer since the company launched in 2019. While speaking on his Grilling JR podcast, Ross praised Mone for having the best match of her AEW run.
“Without a doubt, best match that Mercedes Mone has had, in my opinion, since coming to AEW. I’ve been waiting on that match. I’ve been waiting on that match. I said this before, I tried to say it politely, and I know some people took it the wrong way because I’ve seen it online.”
“All I was ever saying was, we haven’t seen the best of her yet. Meaning that there’s a significant upside to this young lady, who has a great look, great presence, and then all of sudden, on Saturday night, we saw the best of Mercedes Mone. It was very impressive.”
During her AEW run, Kamille had been aligned with Mercedes Mone as a bodyguard of sorts, but that alliance ended on AEW Dynamite when Kamille quit before Mone could fire her.
