Mercedes Mone Loved Match With Forgotten WWE Star
Mercedes Mone has a special love for one of her WWE matches.
No matter what Mercedes Mone accomplishes in her career she’ll always be associated with WWE’s Four Horsewomen.
The quartet, made up of Mone, Charlotte Flair, Becky Lynch, and Bayley helped revolutionise women’s wrestling within the company, delivering a series of acclaimed matches and famous moments.
Mone also made history with Bianca Belair at WrestleMania 37 when they became the first Black women to headline the spectacular. But according to the star, there’s another, less well-remembered match that holds a special place in her heart.
Mercedes Mone Cherishes Moments With WWE Rival
Writing in her Mone Mag, the AEW star looked back on her match with Carmella at TLC 2020. The match marked just the second televised singles match between the pair despite spending much of their careers side by side first in NXT and then on the main roster.
Mone wrote that the match was “nothing short of incredible” before reflecting further on that special night.
“It was exciting and refreshing to finally step into the ring with someone I had known for so long but had never wrestled alongside,” Mone wrote. “Our first pay-per-view match together was nothing short of incredible.
Even without the electric energy of the fans, I truly felt that we delivered the match of the night. We had such great chemistry, and it was clear that we both brought our A-game.
At one point, I remember looking over at her, and we shared a moment of mutual respect and excitement. It was a blast!
… Working with Carmella was everything I hoped it would be and more. It’s funny how the universe works, bringing us together when the timing was just right.
I can’t wait to see where our paths lead us next, but I’ll always cherish those moments we finally got to share in the ring.”
Carmella hasn’t wrestled since competing at a live event in March 2023. The star later went on hiatus before giving birth to her son Dimitri Paul Polinsky that November.
However, despite expressing a desire to return to the ring, Carmella revealed she suffered significant nerve damage during labor leaving one of her feet “non-functional.”
Meanwhile, Mercedes Mone will be back in action on December 15th when she defends the NJPW Strong Women’s Title against Hazuki. Three days later, the star will then defend her TBS Championship against Anna Jay on the Holiday Bash edition of Dynamite on December 18th.
