Mercedes Moné Wants Intriguing WWE Rematch In AEW

Mercedes Mone has a former WWE rival in mind when talking about what women she wants to wrestle in All Elite Wrestling.

At AEW Big Business in Boston, Mercedes Mone officially became All Elite. The former WWE Women’s Champion who was known as Sasha Banks for over a decade decided to join AEW rather than go back to WWE, even though WWE did want her to come back.

For a history maker like Mercedes Mone, going to AEW is a chance to make history in a new company with opponents she has wrestled before and many women she has never wrestled.

While Mone spent part of 2023 working NJPW shows, she also suffered a severe foot injury that nearly ended her career, but the woman who calls herself a “CEO” is healthy once again.

When it comes to opponents in AEW, Mone told Variety she’s really looking forward to facing a lot of different people while specifically mentioning Saraya, who wrestled as Paige in WWE and wrestled Mone several times.

“I always feel like it’s best when I’ve never been in the ring with an opponent before just so we can feed off that the natural chemistry and the magic instantly. But to tie up with Willow again when we only had like half a match, to tie it up with Saraya again would be amazing.”

“I’ve never gotten to wrestle [AEW Women’s Champion] Toni Storm. I’ve never wrestled Skye Blue, or Julia Hart. The talent is just endless. I’m looking forward to facing everybody.”

Mercedes Mone Continues To Learn

Even though the 32-year-old Mone has been wrestling for 14 years, she enjoys training at other places. Since departing WWE in May 2022, Mone has spent time training at the NJPW Dojo, the Pro Wrestling NOAH Dojo, and in Mexico with the likes of Juventud Guerrera and Skayde.

“I’ve been in the wrestling business for 14 years now, and to be able to keep on learning and growing, to sharpen my tools, I think that’s really exciting.”

As for her next AEW appearance, Mercedes Mone has been announced for the March 20th edition of Dynamite in Toronto. The company has yet to announce when Mone’s first AEW match will take place.
