Mercedes Mone’s Heartwarming Reaction To Naomi’s Pregnancy
Mercedes Mone has given her heartfelt opinion on the pregnancy news of her “sister for life,” WWE’s Naomi.
In May 2022, the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship team of Sasha Banks and Naomi left the company due to frustration with their situation within WWE.
As time went on, Naomi went back to WWE to join her husband Jimmy Uso while Banks decided it was time to walk away and try something new. Banks became Mercedes Mone, wrestled in Japan, and eventually signed with AEW in early 2024.
Even though they no longer work in the same company, Mercedes Mone and Naomi have a close bond that will last forever.
Naomi revealed some incredible news this past Monday on WWE Raw when she announced that she is pregnant with husband Jimmy Uso’s baby. That also meant Naomi had to give up the Women’s World Title, but she warned the women in WWE to “proceed with caution” because Naomi will be back and is coming for her title. That could be at some point in 2026 or beyond.
While talking to Sports Illustrated’s The Takedown, Mone spoke about Naomi’s baby with a lot of excitement, and Mone referred to herself as an “auntie” now.
“Yeah, I’m an auntie. I’m excited. I was so excited for the news, and she told me you’re going to be an auntie, I was like, ‘Oh my God, I cannot wait to see a little baby Trinity.’ And I really hope it’s a girl. But I just honestly hope it’s so healthy, and she has a healthy pregnancy.
She is my sister for life. I am so proud of her and everything that she has accomplished, and it’s just so perfect to see how far she’s come and just to experience this next chapter in her life and her career. I’m along for the ride as a fan, for her. I mean, cheering her on all the way from AEW. So, it’s amazing.”
Mercedes Mone Claims She Doesn’t Watch WWE
The AEW TBS Champion Mercedes Mone is currently holding eight championships, thanks to her numerous wins across various promotions worldwide. When asked about WWE choosing to run PLE’s against AEW PPVs and counter-programming AEW often, Mone had some interesting remarks about the place she used to work.
“I don’t watch them. I don’t care about them. I’m “Eight Belts Moné.” I’m a champion of so many different companies. So, the more the merrier. If they want to put on wrestling shows while we have wrestling shows, I’m always going to be better. I’m always better.
That’s why I call myself “The CEO.” They can keep on doing whatever they want to do, but AEW is taking over. If you want to watch the best, good wrestling, watch AEW.”
It’s worth noting that a wrestler’s claim of not watching the other company might simply be a case of being in character or wanting to promote their current company, which is understandable.
At AEW Forbidden Door on August 24th in London, Mercedes Mone will defend the TBS Championship against Alex Windsor, Persephone, and Bozilla.
