Mercedes Mone Shares Heart-Warming Story Involving Tony Khan
Tony Khan came to Mercedes Mone’s rescue.
From the moment she walked out on AEW Dynamite back in March, Mercedes Mone has been positioned as one of the biggest stars in the company. But sometimes, life away from the ring gets in the way, and wrestling has to take a back seat.
In the latest installment of her newsletter, Mone disclosed that her brother Joshua has been struggling with his health and he was taken to hospital on June 12th hours ahead of Dynamite. On the show, Mone was advertised to face Zeuxis.
Although there wasn’t a lot she could do being so far away, Tony Khan arranged for Mone to travel with him back to Orlando on his private jet after the show.
Not only was seeing my family such a surprise but another blessing I received came from the immediate response as I call Tony Khan to relay what was going on. Without hesitation, Tony said he would help. He took me back on his jet headed to Jacksonville and made it a point to stop in Orlando.
No lie, I’m actually crying tears of joy and gratitude as I write this. I’m so blessed and grateful to be working at a company like AEW and have a leader whose motto is ‘family first,'”
Mercedes Mone Set For Huge Match at AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door
Following her victory over Zeuxis on Dynamite, Mercedes Mone will meet Stephanie Vaquer at AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door. The huge cross-promotional match will see Mone’s TBS Title and Vaquer’s NJPW STRONG Women’s Title on the line.
Mone has only just returned from injury after breaking her ankle while bidding to become the inaugural NJPW STRONG Women’s Champion in a match with Willow Nightingale back in May 2023. In a twist, it’s been reported that the championship was actually created for Mone following her departure from WWE.
