Mercedes Mone Handed Rare Singles Loss At AEW Full Gear

Mercedes Mone AEW

The penultimate match of AEW Full Gear saw two extremely talented wrestlers take on each other for the top prize in their division and took each other to the limit while doing so.

The match saw Kris Statlander defend her AEW Women’s World Championship against the TBS Champion, Mercedes Mone. This was an extremely important match for the World Champion, as Mone has already had the better of her on multiple occasions.

The last time they met each other in singles action, it was Mone who was defending her TBS Championship and came out victorious, making sure Statlander has a chip on her shoulder in tonight’s match.

This was the third match between these two individuals with 14-belt Mone already boasting a 2-0 record against Statlander. She was in control for most of the match’s early goings as well and it seemed like she might get her hands on the one title that has eluded her till now.

However, Statlander managed to turn the tide with a blue thunder bomb on the floor and almost earned a count out victory but Mone just sneaked in the ring at the count of nine. However, it didn’t hurt Stanlander a lot ultimately.

She would eventually seal the victory for herself after catching Mone into a piledriver position and planting her with the move. She earned her first win over Mone and in the process, handed her only her second-ever singles loss in the company.
