Mercedes Mone Heading For Huge First Time Ever Match At AEW Dynasty
Mercedes Mone is on the verge of her biggest challenge yet.
Three years on from her controversial WWE departure, Mercedes Mone’s star has arguably never shone brighter.
After finally leaving the sports entertainment giant behind, Mone headed to New Japan Pro Wrestling and Stardom before signing with AEW in March 2024. Since then, she’s remained undefeated in singles action, notching up the second-longest reign with the TBS Championship in the process.
Outside of AEW, Mone also holds the NJPW Strong Women’s Title and the RevPro Undisputed British Women’s Championship.
However, despite that success, the biggest moment of her AEW career to date could be just around the corner.
Mercedes Mone To Face New Challenge
On the March 19 edition of Dynamite, Mercedes Mone made the latest defence of her TBS Championship, seeing off the challenge of Ring of Honor regular Billie Starkz.
The young star has worked alongside Ring of Honor Women’s Champion Athena for the last 18 months, and it seems her match with Mone is just the beginning of a bigger story.
Following the match with Starkz, Mone, and Athena traded shots on social media, and according to a new report from Fightful Select, a match between the pair is on the cards. In fact, some claimed it could happen at Dynasty on April 6.
Although the two long-reigning champions have shared the ring on several occasions, they’ve never wrestled one-on-one.
Athena is the longest-reigning ROH Champion of all time, having held the Women’s Title for a remarkable 831 days. The star made the most recent defence of her title in February when she picked up a win over La Catalina.
