Mercedes Mone Confirmed For Huge International Event
Mercedes Mone has confirmed her plans to be part of NJPW x AEW Wrestle Dynasty.
AEW, STARDOM, ROH, CMLL and NJPW join forces on Sunday 5th January to present the huge show at the Tokyo Dome and the reigning AEW TBS Champion and NJPW Strong Women’s Champion has declared her intentions to head to Japan for the show.
Mone is full of confidence having successfully retained the AEW TBS Championship against Kris Statlander in a near-20 minute battle at AEW Full Gear on 23rd November. The victory means that Mone has now won all eleven of her bouts with the company since debuting in May 2024.
Speaking during the AEW Full Gear Post Show Media Scrum, the 32 year-old star revealed she would speak with Tony Khan to insist upon appearing at the event:
“If I am the TBS Champion and New Japan Strong Women’s Champion, you can expect me at Wrestle Dynasty in Japan at the Tokyo Dome. I’m going to talk to my CEO [points at Tony Khan]. We’ll have to plan that out.”
A number of big name bouts have already been signed for the show including Shingo Takagi (c) defending the NEVER Openweight Championship against Konosuke Takeshita and Tomohiro Ishii, Zack Sabre Jr meeting Ricochet and Kenny Omega taking on Gabe Kidd.
Mercedes Mone Dismisses Negativity From Fans
Mercedes Mone has now spent close to fifteen years in the wrestling business and enjoyed success around the globe, including a memorable decade long stint as Sasha Banks in WWE.
The former WWE Raw Women’s Champion recently revealed that she was once deeply effected by online criticism but experience now allows her to no longer dwells on negativity from fans.
