Mercedes Mone Claims Personal Issues With Vince McMahon Behind WWE Exit
Mercedes Mone has shed more light on her abrupt WWE departure and the role Vince McMahon played in her decision.
In May 2022, Mercedes Mone ended her WWE career when she and Naomi walked out of the company during a Raw taping. At the time, it was reported that the pair left over frustrations with their creative direction, but now the AEW TBS Champion has explained more about what actually happened.
During an appearance on The Breakfast Club, Mone revealed that there was a “lot of personal stuff” that happened between her and Vince McMahon, who she referred to only as “the Chairman.”
“I left for many different reasons. A lot of personal stuff happened with myself and the Chairman at the time. I didn’t like how he talked to me and how I was talked down to. I was like, ‘It’s time to listen to your soul and your heart.’ There was a light that came to me and I left WWE. A guide told me.”
When asked if McMahon talked to her “crazy,” she said he did “a little”, and it proved to be the final straw.
“Yeah, a little crazy. That day he talked to me a little crazy. It was enough for my source of light to come into my body and go, ‘If you stay, that’s not okay. This is for the rest of your life. What are you going to teach your kids? What are you going to teach people?’ If you’re feeling like this from words, after being here for ten years, you have to stand up for yourself.’ That’s what I did. A light came to me and said, ‘You have to walk away and do something better for yourself.'”
Mercedes Mone Believes Bayley Will Become WWE Executive
Mercedes Mone has tipped Bayley to become an executive in WWE once she retires. The CEO explained that Bayley is a natural leader and has talked about coaching young stars in the past. Mone believes she will take it further, if not opening her own wrestling school, then taking a leadership role in WWE.
