Mercedes Mone Makes Bold Claim About AEW Career

Mercedes Mone

Mercedes Mone is enjoying her time in AEW as the TBS Champion.

Since joining AEW in March 2024, all Mercedes Mone has done is win. As the current TBS and NJPW Strong Women’s Champion, Mone has taken on all comers and picked up many victories along the way.

After spending nearly a decade in WWE as Sasha Banks, Mercedes Mone left in May 2022 due to creative frustrations among other things, and found a new home with AEW.

During an appearance on the Battleground Podcast, Mone said that this is the best she’s ever felt in her career, which could be seen as a shot at her WWE run, but it also could reflect her true feelings.

“My first, what, seven months — it’s been amazing. It’s been the best — so far the best I’ve ever felt in my career. Having these matches and opportunity, and just the chance to keep on growing and going. And having these new dreams and living old dreams. My biggest dream was to be in Japan, and now I am a New Japan Strong Women’s Champion.”

“It’s been the best so far in AEW because this is where the best wrestle. And AEW makes sure that I still have this really competitive fire in me and, like, I still want to be the absolute best. And I feel like I’m just getting started, really.”

Mercedes Mone Credits Tony Khan For Being Easy To Talk To

As the AEW Owner, President, GM, and head booker, Tony Khan is in charge of everything for AEW.

“It’s been awesome. It’s been so awesome. There’s still some times I sometimes still don’t know what I’m doing week-to-week because Tony’s so busy. But once I get here, he’s so easy to talk to.”

“And if I don’t like a certain thing, we can make something work. And he’s just very open to creating, and he loves creating for AEW. It’s been amazing so far.”

Up next for Mercedes Mone could be a match with Kris Statlander, who called out the TBS Champion for a match at Full Gear. AEW fans will have to keep watching Dynamite, Rampage and Collision to see how Mone responds.
