Mercedes Mone Becomes Triple Women’s Champion At Wrestle Dynasty
Mercedes Mone remains undefeated.
At Wrestle Dynasty, Mercedes Mone defeated Mina Shirakawa to claim the RevPro Undisputed British Women’s Championship. Despite Shirakawa’s best efforts the AEW star eventually grabbed the win with the Mone Maker.
As a result, Mone now holds the TBS Championship, NJPW Strong Women’s Championship as well as the newly won British Championship. In fact, the star is yet to taste defeat since signing with AEW in March 2024.
Elsewhere at the event, The Young Bucks captured the IWGP Tag Team Championship. The victory marks the Bucks’ second reign after they won the title back in 2018.
The show also saw the in-ring return of Kenny Omega who defeated Gabe Kidd in a brutal war of a match. Kidd appeared to be on the verge of victory following a Ganso Bomb, but Omega somehow rallied to hit a Kamigoye, and the One-winged Angel to grab an emotional victory.
As both men were helped backstage, NJPW President and guest commentator Hiroshi Tanahashi was shown in tears at ringside.
Mercedes Mone Set For First-Time Match Up?
Ahead of Wrestle Dynasty, Mercedes Mone was called out by the recently returned Julia Hart. The Princess of the Black Throne is a former TBS Champion, having previously held the gold for 155 days before suffering a shoulder injury that required surgery.
After losing the title to Willow Nightingale at Dynasty in April 2024, Hart went on a lengthy hiatus, finally making her return in December.
In a recent interview, Hart said she was looking to take “her title” back from Mone, while looking forward to potential matches against the likes of Toni Storm, Mariah May and Serena Deeb.
