Matt Riddle Breaks Silence on Alleged Beef With WWE Legend
Matt Riddle made highly controversial comments about his rival CM Punk’s wife.
During an interview with TMZ’s Inside The Ring, Riddle claimed that AJ Lee “got around,” in WWE. These comments sparked immediate backlash from fans, critics, and wrestling personalities, who saw them as rude and inappropriate.
Among the harshest critics was WWE Hall of Famer Booker T, who lambasted Matt Riddle for his remarks. The WWE Hall of Famer said Riddle has burned bridges between himself and many in the wrestling world due to his disrespectful attitude. He warned such comments could seriously harm Riddle’s chances of returning to a major promotion like WWE.
I never had any beef with Matt Riddle or anything like that. But I did say I did not think this guy was going to make it in this business, I didn’t think he was going to make it to [World] Heavyweight Championship level, just because of certain things. (…) I just didn’t think Matt Riddle respected the business enough to make it to the next level.
I do believe that Matt Riddle is going to be one of those guys that will never, ever make it to that high ever again, just because the guy just, I don’t know. It’s one thing burning bridges, but when you just blow up the damn bridge, that’s another story. I just don’t think this guy did himself any favors over the weekend, speaking the way he is.
Matt Riddle Has No Beef With Booker T
Speaking on a recent interview with TMZ’s Inside The Ring, Matt Riddle addressed Booker T’s remarks, which many people believe have led to a beef between the two stars.
Firstly, Riddle pointed out that he believes he can still return to WWE in the future because CM Punk, who had a fallout with the company, also did. Secondly, he clarified he has no problem with Booker T as he believes the WWE Hall of Famer was only expressing his opinion on social media.
“I wouldn’t say he’s 100% wrong, you know.”
“Not to bring up old people, but CM Punk… he filed a lawsuit against WWE for years, right? And he’s there. So… and best wrestler in the world.”
“Booker T… he speaks out a lot. Talks all about everything on his podcast. Every time I’ve seen Booker T face-to-face, he’s a gentleman. He’s a scholar. He’s giving me [] for not wearing shoes. He’s telling me, ‘You’re not professional. You don’t wear shoes.’ I’m like, ‘What the [] does that mean, dude? I’ll kick you in the face for not wearing a shoe, you know.’”
“You’re sweet as candy, brother. But whenever there’s some interview or Twitter, that’s why I have no beef. And I feel like you’re the same way. You’re going to talk your feelings. You’re going to say what you’re going to say.”
