Matt & Jeff Hardy Tease Showdown With WWE Champions
Matt and Jeff Hardy have their eyes on a couple of rising WWE stars.
In recent weeks, NXT Tag Team Champion Nathan Frazer and Axiom have been featured heavily in TNA. After two big wins, the pair have now found themselves on the radar of the TNA World Tag Team Champions The Hardys.
In a new backstage video, Axiom pondered whether they’ve now faced the best TNA has to offer before Matt and Jeff Hardy made an appearance.
The tag team legends noted that they’re a fan of the pair, and hope their paths will eventually cross so they can find out who the best team really is.
The Hardys have long been linked with a return to WWE, and they have always been open about their desire to be inducted into the Hall of Fame. In fact, many thought the veterans would head back to the company in 2024, but instead, they signed one-year contracts with TNA.
Jeff Hardy Takes Responsibility For WWE Exit
At WrestleMania 33, the Hardy Boyz made their most recent WWE return and immediately won the Raw Tag Team Championship.
Matt eventually left the company in 2020 and made his way to AEW, but Jeff remained with the company until December 2021. Rather than leaving on his own terms, Jeff was released after it was reported he was acting erratically at a live event. At the time it was reported Jeff had refused an offer to go to rehab, and this led to his termination.
During a recent interview, Jeff Hardy opened up about this period of his life and admitted his drinking was out of control.
“It’s sad the way it worked out, but I refused to go to rehab, so I ended up waiting my 90 days out and showing up in AEW, and naturally screwed that up as well. I feel so bad about Matt’s position, because now being in TNA, I feel like I can really kind of pay back for that to the fullest extent.”
The Hardys were most recently in action on the February 6 episode of Impact where they defeated The System.
