Matt Hardy Addresses The Hardyz Future After WWE Title Loss

At NXT Halloween Havoc on October 25, 2025, Matt Hardy and Jeff Hardy put the NXT Tag Team Championship on the line against Dark State in a wild Broken Rules Match.

The Hardy Boyz held the titles for only a short time, having snagged them from Dark State at the NXT vs TNA showdown on October 7 in Orlando, Florida, in a Winners Take All Match. So, there was a ton of hype and emotion heading into their rematch.

Throughout the match, the Hardys channeled their “Broken” alter egos, with Matt Hardy as Broken Matt and Jeff as Brother Nero, bringing the chaotic vibes and classic weapons brawls everyone expected. Jeff even paid tribute to the late WWE star Bray Wyatt, who tragically passed away on August 24, 2023, due to a heart attack, with his Wyatt-themed face paint.

Despite all the efforts, Dark State came out on top in the end, defeating the Hardys, making them two-time NXT Tag Team Champs and ending the Hardys’ brief run with the gold. Following the NXT Halloween Havoc event, Matt Hardy logged on to his X (Twitter) account to comment on their loss on Sunday.

Matt Hardy Is Exicted For Their Journey Ahead After Title Loss

In his tweet, Matt Hardy thanked the fans in Arizona for their incredible love and amazing support. He expressed sadness over the fact that he and his brother couldn’t retain the NXT Tag Team Titles.

But despite losing the belts, he reminded everyone that their wrestling journey is far from over and they’re still fired up for what’s next. He also acknowledged their homage to Bray Wyatt in his tweet.

He wrote, “Thank you for having our back tonight at @WWENXT #HalloweenHavoc, Arizona! You guys & gals were WONDERFUL! We’re so sorry we weren’t able to retain the #WWENXT Tag Titles. The State of Dark swarm was relentless & never-ending tonight. Our journey is nowhere near over, myself & Brother Nero have SO much left to do. Very happy we could pay homage to Bray tonight – We love you & miss you, Windham.”
