Matt Hardy Names His Dream Final Match
AEW star Matt Hardy has gone back to the future to name the dream way he’d end his wrestling career, naming his ideal final opponent.
Matt Hardy has had one of the most illustrious wrestling careers in the modern era, bursting onto the scene in WWE alongside his brother Jeff. Together with Edge & Christian and The Dudley Boyz, the six-men rejuvenated and reinvented tag team wrestling in WWE with their exploits in innovating the TLC match.
Over the years Hardy hasn’t shied away from a reinvention and he arguably made his biggest splash in IMPACT Wrestling when as ‘Broken’ Matt Hardy he introduced the world to his ‘Broken Universe’ and brought cinematic matches to the fore. Both AEW and WWE borrowed heavily from the table Hardy set in this sense during the pandemic.
Speaking on The Extreme Life of Matt Hardy podcast, the AEW star was asked who he’d like to face as the ideal way to put a bow on his in-ring career, for Hardy there was only one – or two – choices:
“I mean, I think in a perfect world, it’s Edge & Christian. You know, those are the guys that we became stars with and our rivalry is just so iconic. I feel like that would be a pretty amazing way to end it, have one last match with those guys.”
