Matt Hardy Discusses Turning Down WWE Rehab

Matt Hardy

Matt Hardy has discussed how he was let out of his WWE deal after turning down an offer from the company to go into rehab.

Matt Hardy has gone on record about his own battles with addiction over the years. Speaking on The Extreme Life of Matt Hardy podcast, the current AEW star explained how WWE offered him the chance to enter rehab but ultimately Hardy refused as he just wanted to be let go from the company:

“I think yes, towards the end, they did. I think they offered it, and then I just said, I just want to be out of my deal, I can take care of myself. And I feel like the stipulation was, I had to go do like a four-day assessment at a rehab. And I went and did that and that was able to breeze through pretty easily. I don’t think they thought I could do it, but I obviously did. And then I went and did that. And that’s what ultimately led to me getting my release from WWE.”

Matt’s brother Jeff Hardy was given his release from WWE back in December 2021 with reports from the time suggesting that the former WWE Champion had refused WWE’s request to enter rehab.
