Matt Hardy Clarifies What “Broken Rules” Match At WWE Halloween Havoc Means
Matt Hardy has given some insight into what the Hardy Boyz have planned for WWE NXT Halloween Havoc.
The Hardy Boyz duo of Matt Hardy & Jeff Hardy hold the NXT Tag Team Titles. In addition to the NXT Tag Team Titles, the Hardys are also the current TNA Tag Team Champions.
At WWE Halloween Havoc on October 25th, The Hardys will defend just the NXT Tag Team Titles against two members of the Darkstate group consisting of Dion Lennox, Osiris Griffin, Cutler James, and Saquon Shugars. When The Hardys won the titles from Darkstate at NXT-TNA Showdown on October 7th, it was Lennox and Griffin competing for Darkstate.
Since the title change, Darkstate did a cheap attack on the Hardys in the NXT backstage area, which led to a change to the Halloween Havoc match.
During a video that aired on this week’s WWE NXT episode, Matt & Jeff Hardy appeared in a video where they went into the Lake of Reincarnation at Matt’s house and emerged as the Broken Hardys. That means it will be “Broken” Matt Hardy and “Brother Nero” Jeff Hardy competing against Darkstate in a Broken Rules Match at Halloween Havoc.
Matt Hardy Informs WWE Fans About What A Broken Rules Match Entails
While Matt Hardy has been “broken” in TNA, WWE, and AEW in the past, there are some fans who might know what a Broken Rules Match is. On his Extreme Life of Matt Hardy podcast, Matt explained what the Broken Rules Match is all about.
“A broken rules match is basically a match with no rules. Where anything goes, anything can be used. You can fight all over the building and the venue. The standard rules of a pro wrestling match typically are broken.”
As he continued, Matt clarified that it will be a match in the arena rather than a cinematic match.
“This is a real match. We’re going to see in the… it’s going to be a real match in the arena. Yes. We will be in Arizona, and we will be going nuts.”
Halloween Havoc takes place on Saturday, October 25th, in Prescott Valley, Arizona, and it will air on Peacock in the US and on Netflix internationally with a 7 p.m. ET/4 p.m. PT start time.
