Matt Cardona Wants A Big Match With… Zack Ryder
Matt Cardona thinks that he would have an excellent match…with himself. Or rather, his persona.
A few weeks ago, Cardona disavowed his former WWE persona, declaring that Zack Ryder was “dead”. But now he appears to have changed his mind after seeing Bray Wyatt do his split personality gimmick on SmackDown.
In an interview with Sportskeeda, Matt Cardona proposed a cinematic match with his former ‘self’, something similar to what Bray Wyatt did with John Cena at WrestleMania 36.
“I would love to do it [Matt Cardona vs. Zack Ryder] in a cinematic match. I don’t have the skills to do that kind of edit job. If there’s someone listening who knows how to do it, I would love how to do it … I’ve thought about doing something like that before. It’d be really, really fun.”
Cardona spent 15 years in WWE and wrestled under two main names. The first was as one of the Major Brothers, before those two were rechristened as Curt Hawkins and Zack Ryder.
Ryder spent years floundering in WWE until he began his ‘Z True Long Island Story’ YouTube show, which catapulted him into cult/fan favorite status.
But since leaving WWE in 2020 following budget cuts, Cardona has taken a more serious approach with his wrestling.
That direction has led to much more success for Cardona, including reigns as both the NWA World Heavyweight Champion and the GCW World Champion.
