Matt Cardona Names WWE Rookie Of The Year

Matt Cardona thinks that only one person was ever in serious contention for WWE’s rookie of the year.

WWE’s roster has seen quite a few changes in 2022. Most people would consider Cod Rhodes to be the company’s biggest gain, especially following his three critically-acclaimed matches with Seth Rollins.

Others would name Bron Breakker as WWE’s biggest new star as he has only been wrestling for about a year and has been doing so well in NXT. This was also the opinion of the Wrestling Observer’s readers, who voted Breakker as the Rookie of the Year for 2022.

But according to Matt Cardona, Breakker wasn’t that impressive of a rookie and Cody didn’t have as good of a 2022 as Cardona’s pick for Rookie of the Year: Logan Paul.

Speaking on Sportskeeda’s Wrestlebinge show, Matt Cardona explained why no one had as good of a year as Logan Paul and the quality of his performances despite such a massive lack of wrestling experience make him a more successful rookie/new arrival to WWE.

“I’m probably going to get some heat for this, but how is it not Logan Paul? I mean, what this guy has done in the handful of matches that he has had — I mean, he had a world title match and held his own against Roman Reigns.

Plus, he has such a huge fanbase outside the WWE. If you watch his matches, it doesn’t seem like he’s an outsider. He’s an in-shape guy, very athletic, and has tons of charisma. I mean I’m sure it rubs some people the wrong way, but that’s the business, pal.”
