Matt Cardona Contract Update Following ROH Title Match
Matt Cardona is not currently signed to a deal with any major organisations.
The former Zack Ryder spent fourteen years with WWE before being released in April 2020 as part of budget cuts during the COVID-19 global pandemic.
Since then the Long Island-born star has enhanced his reputation globally with a plethora of huge independent appearances and has become one of the most sought after talents in the world.
Cardona unsuccessfully challenged Chris Jericho for the ROH World Title at New York’s Hammerstein Ballroom during ROH Final Battle on the 20th December but despite multiple recent appearances on AEW, Cardona remains a free agent.
Fightful Select asked the 39 year-old about his current contractual status following the bout and he confirmed that he remained available for bookings:
“I’m signed to the Major Wrestling Figure podcast.”
Matt Cardona Compared To WWE Hall Of Famer
Chris Jericho had high praise for Matt Cardona ahead of the two doing battle at ROH Final Battle.
The ROH World Champion compared his challengers in-ring work to fellow Canadian, WWE Hall Of Famer Bret ‘The Hitman’ Hart during a recent appearance on Busted Open Radio, whilst also paying tribute to Cardona for reinventing himself following his April 2020 release from WWE.
