Match With Shawn Michaels Requested By Surprising Ex-WWE Star
A wrestler from Shawn Michaels’ past would love to step into the ring with the “Heartbreak Kid” one more time.
When Shawn Michaels became a household name as a WWE superstar, he did so as a member of The Rockers tag team with Marty Jannetty. The duo became one of the hottest and most popular teams in WWE while also being known for their partying lifestyle.
The Rockers’ run ended in 1992 when Michaels famously turned on Jannetty and threw him through the Barber Shop window since they did the angle while on Brutus Beefcake’s talk show.
As the years went on, Michaels went on to become one of the greatest WWE superstars ever and a two-time WWE Hall of Famer while Jannetty did not necessarily live up to the hype. Their careers were so far apart in terms of success that you might hear wrestlers do promos about who would be the Michaels of a tag team (a success) and who would be the Jannetty (a disappointment).
Even though Michaels has been retired as a wrestler for 15 years (minus one regrettable comeback match), Jannetty appeared on Marcus “Buff” Bagwell’s podcast to suggest having one more match with his former partner.
“I would love to get in and have one final match with Shawn. It might [draw a rating]… because with each other, we can still go pretty good… Two senior citizens in there. I don’t know how many people would see that.”
Jannetty also said during the podcast that he can walk and jump around, but his shoulders are “gone” so wrestling again doesn’t seem likely for him.
Does Shawn Michaels Really Think He Can Have Another Match?
As the Senior Vice President of Talent Development, Creative of WWE, Shawn Michaels is a busy guy who oversees the NXT brand as the main booker of the show. Many people who follow NXT regularly praise Michaels for the great job he does in running the brand.
JDC is a TNA wrestler who used to be known as WWE’s Fandango and he said in a recent interview that the 59-year-old Shawn Michaels believes that he could have another match.
“You know who I talked to [at NXT] last week, who said he’s got one or two matches left in him? Shawn Michaels. Yeah, and that’s a guy, he’s the reason why I got into the business. So honestly, it’d probably never happen, but that would be my dream match.”
A match with Shawn Michaels is the dream match of a lot of people in pro wrestling considering how Michaels was highly regarded as one of the best wrestlers of all time.
