Major Match Not Planned For WWE Royal Rumble 2025
WWE has no plans to hold one match at the Royal Rumble.
In the hours before Crown Jewel, Goldberg announced he’ll be having a retirement match in 2025. There’s no word on when the match will take place or who the WWE Hall of Famer’s opponent will be.
However, rumours of a match against Gunther continue to build. At Bad Blood, Gunther decided to throw some shots at Goldberg who was sitting at ringside when addressing the creation of the Crown Jewel Championship.
After spotting the WWE Hall of Famer, he called him a “one trick pony” adding he hoped he was a better dad than he was a wrestler. At this, Goldberg jumped the barrier and tried to get at Gunther only to be thwarted by security.
Goldberg Won’t Say Goodbye To WWE At The Royal Rumble
In the Wrestling Observer Newsletter Daily Update, Dave Meltzer noted that a potential match between Goldberg and Gunther won’t be taking place at the Royal Rumble.
Regarding the Bill Goldberg vs. Gunther match, we don’t have a date for it but were told it was not planned for the Royal Rumble show as things stand right now.
Goldberg hasn’t wrestled since losing to Roman Reigns at Elimination Chamber in Saudi Arabia in February 2022. The veteran has competed in 12 matches since returning to the company in 2016 with a shocking win over Brock Lesnar at Survivor Series.
