A legendary WWE superstar has once again spoken about his plans to retire.

The final days of John Cena’s WWE career are coming near since there are about three months left in the year, and Cena only has a handful of dates left until he calls it a career.

However, Cena isn’t the only 48-year-old WWE superstar who plans to retire soon because former WWE Champion AJ Styles has stated recently that he is going to retire at some point over the next year. That’s what Styles told Tokyo Sports in a recent interview.

“I’m really excited. This will probably be my last fight in Japan, so I’m really looking forward to it. I’m planning to retire soon, so I may not come back to Japan before I retire.

I will probably appear at WrestleMania (April next year in Las Vegas, USA), but it’s not confirmed yet. The details are still undecided, but I will definitely retire within the next year.

I don’t want to show my fans a side of me that isn’t AJ Styles. That’s the main reason. I’ve decided to retire before my body can no longer move.”

During a new interview with ABEMA, AJ Styles spoke about how WWE’s upcoming tour of Japan on October 17 & October 18 will likely be AJ’s last time wrestling in Japan. In addition to his incredible careers in WWE & TNA, Styles also achieved considerable success in NJPW, where he held the IWGP World Championship.

“Very excited. I honestly thought I may not be here in the WWE, so to get the opportunity to come back is really awesome. It’s probably my last time as a performer going back to Japan, so I’m really excited to get back.

That means I’m gonna hang them up. I’m not gonna wrestle anymore. I’m gonna… soon, I’ll retire and I don’t think we’ll get back to Japan before I retire. I think this might be my last go in Japan as a performer.” [H/T Wrestletalk]

AJ Styles Will Face John Cena One More Time At WWE Crown Jewel

During AJ Styles’ WWE career over the last decade, one of his greatest rivals was John Cena. The two legends had some incredible matches at events like SummerSlam 2016 and Royal Rumble 2017, which included a match where Cena defeated Styles for the WWE Title.

At the Crown Jewel PLE on October 11th, John Cena will face AJ Styles for the last time. It’s a match that was set up exclusively on social media because Cena had no television appearances scheduled between Wrestlepalooza and Crown Jewel.

It was revealed that WWE strategically utilized social media to promote the Cena-Styles match, as they knew fans wanted to see it.
