Mark Henry Reflects On Early Career Duties, Including Washing WWE Hall Of Famer’s Clothes
WWE Hall of Famer Mark Henry opened up about his early years in the wrestling industry, sharing vivid memories of his time on the road with the late Yokozuna.
In an interview with Denise Salcedo, Henry recounted running numerous errands for the legendary two-time WWE Champion, including driving him around and handling his laundry during their extended travels. Henry revealed that Vince McMahon specifically paired him with Yokozuna to ensure the superstar could focus solely on his main event responsibilities.
I rode with Yoko, but I really didn’t ride with Yoko, I drove Yoko. I was his young boy, I was his driver, I was the Gopher. He would say ‘Go get this for me.’ We’d be on the road for like two weeks sometimes and I would go do my laundry and Yoko would say, ‘Hey, man, when you go to laundry, you do mine too?’ I said, ‘Alright.’ I did laundry, I did whatever he told me to do because that’s what Vince put me in the car with him for to make sure he didn’t have to do nothing but show up and do main events.
Despite the demanding nature of these tasks, Henry fondly remembered the camaraderie he shared with Yokozuna. They bonded over their mutual love for basketball and food, often seeking out gyms to play basketball and indulging in what Henry humorously termed the “Eating Olympics.”
I mean, we both had real similar interests. We both liked basketball a lot and we would go places that had gyms so we could hoop. And, of course, the Eating Olympics, if there was ever such a thing as the Eating Olympics, me and Yoko put some food back, boy.
Henry shared. He recounted one particularly extravagant outing where he and Yokozuna racked up a $360 bill at a steakhouse on just their food alone.
What Did Mark Henry Think About AJ Styles’ Retirement Tease On SmackDown?
Mark Henry praised AJ Styles for his retirement tease promo on an episode of SmackDown prior to Styles’ clash with Cody Rhodes at the WWE Clash at the Castle PLE. The promo was reminiscent of Henry’s promo on a 2013 episode of Raw where Henry also teased his retirement only to attack John Cena.
