Mark Briscoe Admits He Thought AEW Success Was Impossible
Mark Briscoe has finally won the TNT Championship.
At the fourth time of asking, Mark Briscoe claimed the TNT Championship at Full Gear with a wild win over Kyle Fletcher. Briscoe first challenged for the gold at Forbidden Door 2024, before losing out to Daniel Garcia and then Fletcher in 2025.
When all was said and done, Briscoe battled through steel chairs, thumbtacks, tables, and barbed wire to hit the Jay Driller and claim an emotional win.
Once backstage, Fletcher later vented his frustration at Don Callis, Konosuke Takeshita, and Kazuchika Okada, claiming that the latter pair hadn’t been there for him when he needed them.
Mark Briscoe Delighted With Full Gear Win
During the post-show press conference, Briscoe reflected on his victory, describing it as “amazing.” Expanding further, he said that he never expected to win singles championships after spending his career as a tag team specialist.
“I mean, it’s amazing. I never necessarily thought that nights like tonight would happen. I’m a tag team wrestler. I’ve always been a tag team wrestler. So it’s been three years now that I’ve put that behind me, and so… really amazing. I wanna thank Tony (Khan), I wanna thank family, thank God and thank all y’all, all the fans, everybody who supports… I can’t really quite find the words but, it feel pretty good, feel pretty good.”
While the victory marks Briscoe’s first singles success under the AEW banner, he held the Ring of Honor World Championship for 201 days between April and October 2024.
