Mariah May has opened up about her move to AEW.

Since signing with AEW in November 2023, Mariah May has quickly established herself as one of the biggest female stars in the company.

For many long-time fans, May’s success isn’t a surprise after she impressed in Stardom and on the independent scene despite her relatively young age.

Ahead of her showdown with “Timeless” Toni Storm at All In for the Women’s Title, May reflected on her rise with Justin Barrasso of Sports Illustrated. When asked about her move to America, May said it was “scary,” but acknowledged that it’s where she needs to be.

“Change is definitely scary. It’s even scarier as an adult. I always knew what I wanted to do–be the best women’s wrestler in the world. In order to do that and become a star, I needed to come to America. I can grow and shine at All Elite Wrestling. It’s the perfect place for me to take over women’s wrestling,”

Mariah May Salutes AEW Family

In an earlier interview, Mariah May described the AEW locker room as a “family,” adding the atmosphere is “lovely.”

The comments from May came after it was revealed there was recently a backstage altercation involving Britt Baker, Alicia Atout, and MJF.

Baker was fined and suspended following the incident where it’s claimed she was running down MJF. These comments reportedly found their way back to the former World Champion via his partner Alicia Atout. This sparked an altercation between Baker and MJF, with the latter later punching a wall.
