Mandy Rose On What It Was Like Leading Toxic Attraction In NXT
Mandy Rose has explained her thought process about changing her look while she was leading the Toxic Attraction group in WWE NXT.
It was in July 2021 when Mandy Rose returned to the NXT brand after spending the previous four years on the Raw & SmackDown brands. While in NXT, Rose formed a powerful women’s trios group with rising young stars Gigi Dolin & Jacy Jayne. They would become known as Toxic Attraction.
As a trio, Toxic Attraction dominated the NXT women’s division from when Rose won the NXT Women’s Title in October 2021. During Rose’s 413-day reign as NXT Women’s Champion, Dolin & Jayne also held the NXT Women’s Tag Team Titles twice for a total of 247 days.
While the Toxic Attraction trio were heels in the general pro wrestling sense, they stood out due to their looks and many fans grew to love them as a trio.
In an interview with Threads with McKenzie Mitchell, who is a former NXT backstage interviewer, Mandy Rose said the three women all had different looks by design.
“We weren’t all matchy-matchy, which I always liked. Even when Sonya Deville and I tag teamed like I don’t know we’re not the same person. We’re both very different, especially Sonya and I. And even with these girls, I didn’t know them that well, but I didn’t want to come in and make them look more like me.”
“That was not the vibe. That was never the intention from the get-go. Actually, if anything, it would have been me getting a little edginess from them. We all created our own little look, but it meshed so well together without being like oh, they’re so matchy-matchy.”
Mandy Rose Was Inspired By Lara Croft
When Mandy Rose won the NXT Women’s Title in October 2022, she had something of a Lara Croft look, which you can see in the image at the top of this post. Rose explained why she went for that look.
“Obviously, when I won the title right before that is when I came back to NXT, and I went with the dark hair look. I just had kind of a different vibe going; I just wanted to be a little edgier, I wanted to be taken a little more seriously because it was always the Golden Goddess, and I wanted to switch it up.”
“I always loved the red and black combination, but this is actually inspired from Lara Croft from Tomb Raider. She had that like sexy look, but also like badass look.”
Mandy Rose was released by WWE in December 2022 just one day after dropping the NXT Women’s Title to Roxanne Perez on NXT television. It came as a shock to a lot of people, including Rose herself. The decision was made due to WWE not approving of Rose’s subscription-based website that was posting adult content.
Since leaving WWE, Rose hasn’t attempted to work in pro wrestling against. That’s because Mandy (real name Amanda Saccomanno – she also goes by Mandy Sacs) has made “life-changing” money post WWE due to the support of fans who enjoy whatever content she provides on her subscription-based website.
