A top WWE star is heading to Japan.

Despite enjoying a run with the Women’s World Championship and competing in a series of acclaimed matches throughout 2025, more recently, things haven’t been going well for Iyo Sky.

At Wrestlepalooza, Stephanie Vaquer beat Sky to claim the vacant Women’s World Title, and on the following episode of Raw, she was attacked by Asuka following growing tension between the pair. Sky had come to the aid of Rhea Ripley after Asuka blinded her with her devastating mist.

However, following that shocking betrayal, Sky has now set her sights elsewhere.

WWE Star Iyo Sky Confirms Japan Return

In a new video, Iyo Sky announced that she’ll be returning to Japan with Marigold to face Mayu Iwatani at Grand Destiny at Ryogoku Kokugikan. The event is set to take place on October 26.

Marigold fans, long time, no see. It’s WWE superstar Iyo Sky. So, why am I here? There’s one reason: Mayu Iwatani!

Over the past few years, when you and I didn’t meet, we’ve each walked such wonderful paths. Let’s speak to our hearts’ content and tell our story inside of the ring.

October 26 at Marigold’s Ryogoku Kokugikan, Mayu Iwatani vs IYO SKY is official.

Hey, Mayu, let’s show the world what an amazing match we will have. See you soon.”

A week before that match, on October 18 and 19, WWE is set to hold two events in Japan, also at Ryōgoku Kokugikan. While promoting those two live events, AJ Styles announced that he plans to retire in 2026, noting that his upcoming visit to Japan will be his last as an in-ring performer.

Marigold boss Rossy Ogawa was publicly criticised by AEW star Kenny Omega back in May after the promoter made disparaging comments about Utami Hayashishita’s appearance.

Ogawa and his Marigold promotion have a working relationship with WWE, with Sky and Kairi Sane wrestling for the promotion previously. Giulia also wrestled for the promotion before eventually signing with the sports entertainment giant.
