Major WWE Star On Verge Of Signing New Contract
A top WWE star will be staying with the company for several years to come.
At Survivor Series, Gunther retained the World Heavyweight Championship with a win over Damian Priest. But that win came with a slice of help from Finn Balor, not that the champion felt he needed it.
After Balor’s intervention, Gunther flattened the star with a huge kick en route to victory.
On Raw, Balor said he deserved a title shot after helping Gunther to another win, but instead, the champion squared off with Dominik Mysterio later in the show. After Gunther grabbed the win, Balor attacked yet again, before seeking out Adam Pearce to ask for a title match. But Pearce explained Gunther had already agreed to a match
Gunther will now defend the World Heavyweight Title against Finn Balor at Saturday Night’s Main Event on December 14th.
Gunther To Sign New WWE Contract
According to a new report from Mike Johnson of PWInsider, Gunther is in the final stages of agreeing a new contract with the company. Johnson suggests the star is at the end of discussions concerning or has just signed a new multi-year deal.
After years of dominating the European wrestling scene, Gunther signed with WWE in 2019 and went on to become the longest-reigning United Kingdom Champion in history. He followed this up with an impressive run in NXT before arriving on the SmackDown in April 2022.
From there he set a record as the longest-reigning Intercontinental Champion ever, eventually claiming the World Heavyweight Championship at SummerSlam 2024.
